☀️ It’s a busy holiday weekend, Las Vegas.

BTS kicks off a run at Allegiant Stadium, the Best Dam Barbecue festival returns to Boulder City, and early voting begins for Nevada’s primary.

Enjoy yourselves — but also remember why we honor Memorial Day in the first place 🙏

What Las Vegas's Talking About

🩺 New Children’s Hospital Moves Forward

Clark County approved permits for the first stand-alone children’s hospital in the Las Vegas Valley. The eight-story Intermountain Health facility and heliport is expected to open in 2030 in the Southwest Valley. [KLAS]

  • I joined the City Cast Las Vegas for the latest news roundup to talk about the new hospital, plus a recent fatality on Fremont Street (the Heart Attack Grill), and a study that reveals how hockey fans around the country really feel about our Golden Knights. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

🔌 Boulder City Defeats Data Center

For now, anyway. The Boulder City Planning Commission voted down a proposal to build a data center that would cover more than 88 acres outside town. The City Council could weigh in later on a revised plan and voters will tackle the issue in November. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

🐶 More than a Hundred Dogs Recovered from RV

The Mesquite Animal Shelter is welcoming donations after taking in more than 100 dogs that were found inside a single RV. (Trust me. Just having three chihuahuas is plenty.) Some of the dogs are pregnant, so the number is only going up. [KVVU]
