What's CITY Talking About?

School Lockdowns Rise

The newly ended school year saw a rise in lockdown incidents. There were 98 hard lockdowns, as opposed to 80 the year before, plus 331 soft lockdowns, compared to 313. Caveat: Not all were due to on-campus incidents; police action near a school often results in a lockdown. [KSNV]

Abortion Patients Protected

On the campaign trail, Gov. Lombardo changed his stance on safeguarding out-of-state abortion seekers; initially saying he’d repeal his predecessor’s protections, he later changed his mind. This week he signed a bill that secures abortion patients in Nevada no matter where they live. He also OK’d a bill strengthening protections for election workers. [Nevada Independent, KVVU]

Middle of the Road

You can’t swing a Yugo in this town without hitting a tailgating road-rager, a fast-lane slowpoke, or an entitled jerk sending a text while driving. And yet this study doesn’t place Nevada among the top 10 states with the worst drivers. 🤨 I demand a recount! [Digg]
