July 13, 2023
Good morning. Hope you’re hungry, because below we have plenty of good food, replacement food, Ethiopian food, and, yes, grotesquely humongous food. Let’s tie on the feedbag and get started!

What's CITY Talking About?
😬 Not So Funny Perhaps
You know that tourist who unleashed a flood of tweetsnark by hopping naked atop a Harrah’s poker table this week? Brian Danilczyk’s family insists his drink was spiked before the incident (he was in town for a bachelor’s party). “The person who chose to drug my husband is the true criminal,” his wife says. [New York Post]
🚰 Water Savings
According to a water official, Southern Nevada has used a whopping 25% less water so far this year than in similar periods in years going back to 2020. Why? The abnormally wet weather this year is part of it. Still, the hot, dry conditions expected through September may shrink those savings. [Review-Journal]
🪨 Say Nothing
“How Many Stones Does It Take to Build a Stonewall?” could be the title of a children’s book explaining the school district’s ongoing refusal to release ostensibly public records regarding an incident between a school cop and a Durango High School student. The ACLU now says it may have to resort to a civil suit to try to force the district’s hand. [Nevada Independent]
🏀 Dribbling Away
Southern Nevada high school basketball is seeing a talent drain — four highly rated prospects are leaving Bishop Gorman for schools in Florida and Utah, furthering an exodus already underway. [Review-Journal]
