🫠 The unexpected bliss of your … hot car?

August 18, 2023

Friday — whew! If this weekend’s weather (see below) keeps you indoors, and you have an artsy bent, you might read this roundtable conversation about the challenges facing this city’s arts community.

What's CITY Talking About?

🚫 No Lizzo?

Lizzo has reportedly been bumped from consideration as halftime artist at the 2024 Super Bowl in Allegiant Stadium. This comes after recent sexual-harassment and abusive-workplace allegations by three of her former backup singers. [Review-Journal]

☕ Roadwork Hurts Business

The downside of civic improvement: Dig It!, the downtown coffee shop noted for employing disabled workers, says its business has been decimated by relentless street construction. With the area torn up and parking hard to find, business has dwindled from around 200 people a day to about 40. [KLAS]

⚾ Little Leaguers Stopped Short of Win

The Henderson All-Stars dropped a 3-1 loss in the first game of the Little League World Series — despite throwing a one-hitter. The other team scored on walks and errors. The next game is Saturday. [Review-Journal]

🌧️ Thanks, Hilary

Hurricane Hilary, that is. This Pacific Island storm is likely to bring rainfall and cooler temps to Las Vegas — and the Southwest — over the weekend and into early next week. Beware of flooding and maybe curtail your yard-watering. [KLAS]
