👎 Assembly leader demands Jara quit
November 2, 2023
Greetings! So, it may not be terraforming on the scale of what F1 is doing to the Strip, but it seems that for the Super Bowl, Paramount will build a likeness of its iconic mountain — right on top of the Mirage volcano. Hooray.

What's CITY Talking About?
Hateful Message Investigated
The Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center is investigating antisemitic graffiti — “Death 2 Jews,” it read in part — that appeared yesterday morning on a wall at Fort Apache and Charleston. “This breaks my heart because Las Vegas is my home,” said one Israeli-born local resident. [KTNV]
📋 John Madden Weeps
Josh McDaniels’ career isn’t even cold yet but, naturally, speculation as to his successor has begun in earnest. Names floated include Jim Harbaugh, assistant coaches from the Dolphins, Cowboys, and Packers, and … *sound of brain melting* … Jon Gruden?
- Context: We talked about the Raiders’ resilience during their last round of coaching woes. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🚫 Undesirables
The City of Las Vegas is considering a law that would allow it to ban “chronic offenders” from the area around the Fremont Street Experience. It’s modeled on a similar Clark County law pertaining to the Strip. The ACLU is already fighting that measure, and says it will challenge the city’s too, if enacted. [Nevada Current]
👎 Time to Go?
Assembly Speaker Steve Yeager is demanding that Clark County School District Superintendent Jesus Jara resign, citing poor performance and sagging morale within CCSD. The district responded with a statement saying Jara isn’t going anywhere. [Nevada Current]
