⬇️ Henderson condos lose HOW MUCH value each day?

December 4, 2023

Good morning, and welcome to another week on the crazy train. All aboard!

What's CITY Talking About?

⬇️ Hendo Condos Plunge

Here’s a startling number from this story about how condo prices in Henderson have dropped farther than anywhere else in the country: $110. That’s how much value a Henderson condo lost per day in the last year. Here’s another number: 20. That’s all the condos sold in Henderson in October. [Review-Journal]

🚨 Driver Seen Drinking Before Hitting Cops

Jemarcus Williams, the man suspected of running over and killing two state troopers on I-15 this week, was reportedly tossed from the Palms earlier that evening for being too intoxicated. He allegedly hid behind a tree in the parking lot until security believed he’d left, then got into his car. He’s being held on $500,000 bail. [KVVU]

🐶🫁 Doggie Breaths

State agriculture officials are warning pet owners about a mysterious respiratory ailment going around — they don’t know what it is or how it’s spread. So if you have a dog, you’re advised to keep it vaccinated and to limit its contact with other animals. [Nevada Department of Agriculture]

🫴 Colleges to Students: Pay More!

Students at UNLV and the state’s other higher-ed campuses might see a tuition and fee hike next year to cover promised raises for staffers. The state’s funding formula leaves about one-third of expenses to be paid for by the colleges themselves. [Nevada Current]

First, Where Was It? ⤴️

Last week’s challenge: This delightful maze for the eyes can be found on the side of La Linea, a body arts shop at Commerce and Imperial in the Arts District. “I took pics of my daughter there before homecoming,” says one reader. “So much more fun than the bridge at Town Square, lol!”

Thanks to these readers for chiming in with the right answer:

Given the deportment of these three fellas, you might assume they’re in a local government office — maybe one of the departments catering to developers? Savvy guess, though not, in this case, accurate — though they are in a place where a lot of deals have been made.

If you know where, tell me so using the button below, and be sure to put Where Is It in the subject line. Thanks!

Let’s Call It a Night

With 24-hour venues getting harder to find in this city that (supposedly) never sleeps, co-host Dayvid Figler and contributor Brent Holmes, long-time Las Vegans who had graveyard-shift parents, share witching-hour stories, debate whether Vegas remains a 24-hour town, and tout their favorite all-night spots.

Final note: According to this map of the most popular vehicle in each state, Nevadans favor … Fiats? Haha, no, of course not. Only a few of us have such exquisitely good taste. The rest seem to prefer … 🛻
