💋 Vegas is due for a Hallmark Christmas movie already

December 15, 2023

So this weekend, keep the chill off of your head by tugging on your thinking cap: What events would you put on a 2024 Las Vegas bingo card? However likely (school district and teachers fail to reach a deal) or improbable (school district and teachers do reach a deal), send us your thoughts. This is for an upcoming podcast and newsletter project. Be sure to put “Bingo” in the subject line!

What's CITY Talking About?

🦣 Ice Age Park to Open Soon

Jan. 20 — that’s when the long-awaited Ice Age Fossils State Park will open at the far north end of the valley. In addition to its thousands of petrified remains, its “Monumental Mammoth” sculpture will surely be one of the more coveted selfie backdrops. [Nevada Independent]

🚰 Level Up

Lake Mead could see a 10-foot rise in its water level this summer, thanks to a series of conservation agreements with California water users that will save 643,000 acre-feet through 2025. The Californians will get $295 million in compensation. [KVVU]

⚖️ Bail Call

A judge is reportedly expected to set bail for three of the four teens being charged as adults in the beating death of a Rancho High classmate. (Nine teens in all have been arrested.) While defense attorneys insist the victim started the fight, the judge, who reviewed video of the incident, said it doesn’t appear to be a case of self-defense. [Review-Journal]

🖌️ The Mural of the Story
