Good morning. I’m just swinging by to drop off this specially curated list of things to do on New Year’s Eve and shortly after.

As you know, there will be an F1-load of people on the Strip and in downtown, all ready to drink and cheer and drink as we send 2023 zinging down Slotzilla for the final time. If you want to get out of the house but avoid some of that — though we do have an event or two from each location below — here are some suggestions.

After that, see you next year!

  • The Colosseum
John Oliver and Seth Meyers. Ringing in the New Year with two of the reigning kings of humorously pointing out how our country is going sideways! Laugh and cry your way into 2024 in Adele’s house! 8 p.m. ($89.95)

  • Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

  • Downtown Public Art Walking Tour
    Self-guided.
There’s a lot of public art in and around the Arts District, mapped in this useful and informative guide. Why not get 2024 off to a creative start? It’s what Baby New Year would want.

Tuesday, Jan. 2

  • Malcolm Book Club
    Book event.
If you haven’t heard of talented local novelist Amanda Skenandore, this 4:30 p.m. gathering — devoted to her novel “The Second Life of Mirielle West” — will serve as a great introduction. If you have heard of her, you need no further encouragement from me. Henderson. (Free)
  • Wiseguys Downtown
    Bucket List Open Mic.
Having survived the holiday’s scheduling anomalies and NYE’s hangovers, the valley’s open-mic industrial complex comes back to life for 2024. Here’s where you get an early bead on the rising talent, along with anyone else with the guts to take the stage. Arts District. ($5)
