⚖️ Did This Judge Make the Right Call?
January 9, 2024
Hey, Las Vegas! Heads up to anyone who needs to be within road rage distance of the Convention Center this week — the Consumer Electronics Show boots up today. The official expectation is 130,000 attendees, back to pre-COVID levels of traffic and lunch-break jaywalking. Be careful!

What's CITY Talking About?
⚖️Attacked Judge Sentences Man Who Attacked Her Putting aside concerns of perceived bias, the Clark County District Court Judge who was attacked as seen in a now-viral video, went forward and sentenced her own attacker to the maximum prison penalty of up to four years on his original charge of attempted battery. That’s not accounting for the new charges from the courtroom attack, set to proceed today, in front of a different judge. [R-J]

Today on City Cast
Matt Donnelly, a magician (“Penn & Teller: Fool Us”) and podcaster (“Matt and Mattingly’s Ice Cream Social,” “Penn’s Sunday School”) joins City Cast co-host Dayvid Figler to talk about Las Vegas as a capital of magic.
Lastly today, a bummer note: Now that hiking season is on the horizon, here’s a reminder that some trails on Mount Charleston were so damaged by last year’s hurricane weather that they may not open for years. This kind of disappointment is what keeps me from hiking.
