Good morning. Here’s a funless fact: You won’t be surprised to learn that Las Vegas makes a recent list of cities with the worst commutes. What might surprise you is that we’re ranked all the way down at No. 21. Should be higher! I don’t think the list-makers factored in NDOT’s uncanny ability to screw up multiple necessary routes at the same time. I’m calling for a recount!

In my ideal world, Alex Gonzalez and Sebastian Rivera were raging against the NFL’s corporate machine when they ran onto the field in the third quarter of Sunday’s Super Bowl. More likely they were hammered. But they were definitely arrested. The charge? “Prohibited conduct at an athletic event” — isn't it weird to think someone had already thought to criminalize this? 📈 Foster System Improving?
Between 2008 and 2023, Clark County foster parents saw just one tiny increase in pay. The upshot: Two hundred licensed providers left the system in 2022. But a 24% hike last year is helping reverse that situation. [KLAS]

🚄 Train Chugging Ahead?
It’s being touted as more evidence that the high-speed train between here and California is taking shape: “Brightline has been conducting fieldwork in the median of Interstate 15 in both Southern Nevada and California,” the paper says. Still, no ground has actually been broken, and the work in question will just “lead to the final stages of design.” [Review-Journal]
