📢 CCSD Parts Ways with Jara

It's official: Today is CCSD Superintendent Jesus Jara's last day. Last night, the Clark County School Board approved his resignation along with a $250k contract payout (down from the roughly $500k payout the board rejected two weeks ago). This marks the end of a tumultuous 5+ year tenure — and while the search begins for a new supe, Jara's deputy, Brenda Larsen-Mitchell, will take the reins in the interim. [The Nevada Independent]

🖊️ Fly the Scary Skies

Remember when Joe Pesci stabbed a dude with a pen in Casino? That kind of stuff is fun in the movies, but not in real life. As the airline experience continues to evolve into a flying Greyhound experience, one passenger stabbed another with a weapon made of pens and rubber bands on an Alaskan Airlines flight as it was descending into Las Vegas. 🥫 Nevada Grocery Prices are Higher than (Almost) Anywhere Else

There’s a reason Nevada has the second-highest grocery prices in the country: We’re in the middle of the desert, so most of the produce has to be shipped in from somewhere else. Then again, California is #1 on the list, but is a hub for agriculture. That state is just expensive no matter what.

🎟️ Terry Fator Heads for the Stratosphere

Terry Fator is leaving the Liberty Loft at New York-New York, an intimate venue that felt like a placeholder after the “America’s Got Talent” winner wrapped up his lucrative run at the Mirage. Vital Vegas and Johnny Kats at the RJ say Fator is moving on to The Strat next, although nothing official has been announced. What is official: the final NYNY show is March 26.
