🎰 AI is coming to Fremont Street
March 15, 2024
☘️ Have fun this weekend! And be safe. If you plan to drink, Lyft is offering a $10 rideshare discount in the Las Vegas Valley over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend with the code STPATSRIDE. Between that and green beer, you’ll save plenty of dough 🤑

What's CITY Talking About?
⚖️ Basketball Player Planned Murder?
Grand Jury evidence suggests former G-League basketball player Chance Comanche and his girlfriend plotted to kill a woman over possession of a Rolex watch. Police say Comanche also offered money for sex to Marayna Rodgers, who was later found strangled in a Henderson ditch. [KTNV]
🚦 We Told You This Was Coming
Chatter about legalizing automated traffic enforcement cameras is heating up. The Nevada Advisory Committee on Traffic Safety is urging state lawmakers to approve red light and speeding cameras to crack down on violators. Critics argue they’ll become more of a revenue tool than something that approves road safety. [Nevada Current]
- Worth noting: Metro Sheriff Kevin McMahill is big on the idea. [KVVU]
🚶 AI Crowd Control at the Fremont Street Experience
Las Vegas is launching a pilot program that will use AI to monitor and control pedestrian traffic in and around the Fremont Street Experience. Federal funds will be used to install detection systems by early 2025, adjusting traffic and crossing lights in real time based on crowd volume and movement. It will also give those with a government-issued card access to push buttons to request extra crossing time if needed. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🌎 The Exosphere is Your Canvas
The Sphere is giving local students the opportunity to see their own original art on the world’s largest LED screen. Eight finalists will be determined by a public vote in the Sphere XO Student Design Challenge with the winners earning prizes of $10,000 in value. [Variety]
