🚘 Traffic's about to get worse

March 19, 2024

🏀 Hello basketball fans! Today is the official start of March Madness. In case you didn’t notice, it’s huge in Las Vegas with viewing parties in all corners of the valley. The betting action even exceeds the Super Bowl, so brace yourself for big crowds at the casinos this week.

What's CITY Talking About?

🎵 Head to Toe, So Player

MGM Resorts says Bruno Mars has “no debt” to the company after reports went viral the singer owed as much as $50 million to the casino giant, thanks to gambling losses. Maybe it all evens out with the residency? [KVVU]

🚘 Yep, Traffic is Getting Worse

Like there wasn’t enough construction on Interstate 15 😣 Work is now underway between Silverado Ranch and Cactus — and expected to last until April 5, with traffic down to a single lane at times. But wait, there’s more! Drivers also get to deal with delays on Lamb Boulevard in North Las Vegas and Maryland Parkway in Downtown Vegas. [KSNV]

👏 But the DMV is Getting Better

Really. The DMV may be closing its Henderson branch, but is giving drivers less of a reason to pay a visit. New online services are being rolled out, including written tests and mobile appointments. [Nevada Current]

🎰 Wynn Vs. Fontainebleau

The Wynn’s lawsuit against the Fontainebleau, which accuses the new resort of poaching executives, could test the limits of non-compete clauses in Nevada. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

An Insider’s Guide to the Las Vegas Airport

I once did a shot of whiskey, took a nap, and got a workout in — all before leaving baggage claim. I sat down with City Cast Las Vegas Co-Host Dayvid Figler to discuss secret sleep rooms and other hacks I discovered at Harry Reid International Airport.

We’re sad to learn about the recent closure of Forte Tapas, a Spring Valley favorite for nearly 15 years. We hope owner Nina Manchev continues to share her amazing caviar with Las Vegas — and can’t wait to see what she does next.

Cheers to a great run 🥂
