🚫 Schools block cellphones
March 22, 2024
🏎️ Nevada locals get early access to F1 tickets, starting at noon today. General admission begins at $150 and goes (way) up from there 💸 Sports fans can also spend a few bucks on the two-day Raiders Image warehouse sale, which also begins today, featuring swag for not only the Raiders, but the Aces and UNLV as well 🏈 🏀

What's CITY Talking About?
📶 Phones Blocked in Schools (Most of the Time)
Clark County will require students, grades 6-12, to keep their phones in signal-blocking pouches during class to cut down on distractions. Between classes? Anything goes. The policy begins in the 2024-2025 school year with a pilot program currently underway in 10% of schools. [KSNV]
🏥 Medicaid to Cover Abortion
Nevada Medicaid must cover abortion. That’s according to a Clark County District Court ruling in favor of the ACLU of Nevada, who filed the suit on behalf of the Silver State Hope Fund, a provider of abortion services. Why now? Voters approved the Equal Rights Amendment in the last election, which guarantees equality of services for all. [Nevada Independent]
- Nevada has the right to an abortion guaranteed in the state constitution, giving Las Vegas a clearly defined role in the matter after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🎰 Casino Punished After Security Gets Physical
And it happened in Laughlin, which is supposed to be the low-key alternative to Vegas 🤷 The gaming commission fined Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort & Casino for failing to report two altercations involving security officers. One had to do with another employee caught with marijuana and a second happened when a customer was booted from the property. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🛩️ Door Falls off North Las Vegas Plane
All trends come to Vegas, eventually. A small plane made an emergency landing, returning to the North Las Vegas Airport after a door fell off the aircraft and hit the ground. No injuries were reported, but it would be great if parts could stop falling off planes. [KVVU]

❄️ Winter is already over, but it’s not too soon to look ahead to future fun in the snow. Renderings were released for the new Mt. Charleston Lodge to replace the original, which stood for 60 years before burning down in 2021.
Gotta say, the new version looks great 👌 Hopefully, they bring back the boozy Mt. Charleston Coffee too 😁
Enjoy the weekend!
