Is the eclipse worth watching in Las Vegas?

April 2, 2024

❤️ Our hearts are with José Andrés, a chef with four Vegas restaurants, whose World Central Kitchen lost seven workers in Gaza. Regardless of where you stand on war and politics, WCK does thankless work to feed people in disaster areas, so consider making a donation.

What's CITY Talking About?

Locks on the Tropicana doors.

🎰 That’s a Wrap

The casino doors were officially locked at noon yesterday at the Tropicana. The closure of the 67-year-old resort brings up a few questions — like what it takes for a historic property to be worthy of preservation 🤔 [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

✡️ Hotel with a Synagogue?

It’s never too soon to think about the next hotel in Las Vegas. Plans are in the works for the King David Hotel, which would be aligned with the Jewish faith, include a synagogue on property, and stand nearly 650 feet tall near the Strip. Plans are awaiting approval by Clark County, so this has a while to go. [KVVU]

🏒 Arena Changes Name

The Henderson arena formerly known as the Dollar Loan Center (yes, that was the official name) is now Lee’s Family Forum in a deal connected to Lee’s Discount Liquors. Branding is everything, y’all. [KLAS]

We received a lot of congratulations on City Cast Las Vegas winning “Best Podcast” at the Silver State Awards. Co-host Dayvid Figler seemed to enjoy himself during Saturday’s ceremony at Resorts World, even with a limited open bar 🍸
