🚔 Charges Pile Up in K9 Stabbing

Enzo continues to recover in “good spirits” — and is hopefully getting all kinds of good treats — after the Metro K9 was stabbed during a barricade standoff Friday. Thurman Lowe, the 64-year-old man police say is responsible, faces five felony charges and is in “critical, but stable condition” at UMC with self-inflicted stab wounds. [KLAS]

🎰 Tropicana a hot ticket

The Tropicana closes today and the gift shops are already cleared out of any merchandise with the resort’s name on it. A few gamblers are even holding on to Tropicana poker chips instead of cashing them in. [KTNV]

  • A liquidation company is wasting no time, selling off furniture, equipment, and other items from the Tropicana’s rooms, restaurants, conference center, and theater. (Yes, you can actually buy the theater doors). Check out the videos online. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
  • Employees in the culinary union will each receive $2,000 in severance for every year of employment 💰 [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
  • Everyone is talking about the Tropicana, but how much should we really care at the end of the day? [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

🚍 Big Money for Better Buses

Plans for a new Maryland Parkway rapid transit line that connects Downtown, UNLV, and the airport is closer to becoming reality, thanks to $150 million in federal funding. The RTC line will bring 15 hydrogen fuel cell buses to the nearly 13-mile route. [KSNV]

Goodbye Tropicana

Everybody’s talking about the Tropicana, which finally closes its doors today after nearly 67 years in Las Vegas. It’s a bittersweet moment for old-timers, but much of what we loved about the resort is already long gone. City Cast Las Vegas co-hosts Dayvid Figler and Sarah Lohman discuss the legacy of the Tropicana — and if there’s really much left to miss.
