🏜️ There’s something weird in Sandy Valley
April 5, 2024
If you get a chance, visit the Lost Spirits Distillery at AREA15 before it closes on April 29. There’s nothing else like it, especially the interactive 16-course dinner that’s well worth $300+. I’m sad to see this place go 😕

What's CITY Talking About?
⚾ The A’s Drop Oakland
Before the Oakland A’s become the Las Vegas A’s, the team will be known as … just the A’s 🤨 Or the Athletics. The change takes effect as the team heads to Sacramento to kill time in a minor league ballpark for three seasons while a Vegas stadium is built on the Tropicana site. The writer in me just wants them to drop the apostrophe from the name. [KSNV]
💥 So about the Tropicana …
It looks like a Tropicana implosion will really happen by the end of the year. The demo company that would handle it let the cat out of the bag, noting a few details still need to be sorted out, but plans are fully in motion. [KLAS]
- There’s a debate over if the Tropicana was worth preserving. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
😲 Lombardo Endorses Democrat’s Bill
In an ultra-rare move, Gov. Lombardo is endorsing a bill by Democrat Susie Lee that could open up public lands for housing. The issue became a challenge of sorts from the Republican governor to President Biden during a recent Nevada visit. Is this a rare moment of bipartisanship? If so, it’s a nice change of pace. Where Is It

Do you recognize this trippy image? Here’s a hint: It’s from a popular entertainment spot.
Is this…
A. An on-screen test pattern at the Beverly Theater.
B. A digital art piece at Omega Mart inside AREA15.
C. The first thing you see on screen inside the Sphere.
D. An endless “window” at the Museum of Illusions.

So about that photo… The answer is C.
That is by far the most boring photo I took during the 50-minute Postcard From Earth presentation at the Sphere. Trust me, it gets better from there.
