⚖️ Family court battle led to shooting
April 10, 2024
🎡 The Clark County Fair & Rodeo begins today. It’s the best reason to drive out to Logandale — after a burger at Criss Angel’s diner 🍔 The fair runs through Sunday, giving you plenty of time to plan a short road trip.
What's CITY Talking About?
⚖️ New Details on Law Office Shooting
Ashley Prince filed for sole custody of the children she shared with ex-husband Dylan Houston on the same day she and new husband Dennis Prince were shot and killed by attorney Joe Houston, her ex’s father. Houston allowed a pregnant lawyer to leave the room before turning the gun on himself. Ashley Prince had also requested Dylan Houston, who wasn’t present, face a psychological evaluation and drug testing. [KVVU, Review-Journal]
💉 Nevada Vaccination Rates Lag Nation
A decrease in child immunizations in Nevada is blamed on a lack of “vaccine confidence.” COVID and flu shots among adults in the state lag behind the national average. [Nevada Current]
🎵 Hello Goodbye
First the volcano, now this 😒 The Beatles LOVE is wrapping up an 18-year-run at the Mirage on July 7. After months of speculation, the fate of the Cirque du Soleil production, featuring everything we know and love about John, Paul, George, and Ringo, becomes clear as the Mirage continues its slow-motion transformation into a Hard Rock property. 🥕 It’s Veggie Season at Gilcrease Orchard
In yet another sign that warmer weather is on the way, Gilcrease Orchard is open once again for picking season. Come pick carrots, radishes, leafy greens, and tulips on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. [Review-Journal]
Las Vegas Chatter
🚝 Lotsa Monorail chatter this week.
The post came a couple hours after this one by Scott Roeben of Vital Vegas, citing his own 2020 story …
We wrote about the inevitable fate of the monorail two weeks ago and operator LVCVA just confirmed to the RJ that “the system will continue to run … But the LVCVA will likely look to repurpose it at some point when it is decommissioned in its current form.”
In other words, we all seem to agree on the same thing 👏
When the Las Vegas Monorail eventually does go away, what should the LVCVA do with the leftover tracks? Use it for Elon Musk’s Tesla system? Turn it into the Strip’s most boring roller coaster? Let us know what you think 📧
🎸 Meanwhile in the world of Taylor Swift …
A new study claims Las Vegas has the least amount of Taylor Swift fans in the country — at least among cities that hosted the Eras Tour of stadiums last year. Social media activity and the number of Swiftie-themed events were taken into account and the result: Las Vegas has zero Taylor Swift fans per 100 people; the lowest per capita in the study 🤯
Not sure about that one 🤔 Let’s do a study of Wayne Newton fans and compare.
🚧 Of course …
