🚔 Who pays when police destroy property?
April 17, 2024
👉 Check out the new Arts District mural dedicated to the Vegas Golden Knights. It’s on the wall of Casa Don Juan, just in time for the playoffs 🏒

What's CITY Talking About?

🚨 The Price of Destruction
Police barricades are as common as shrimp cocktail in Las Vegas. Yet the recent days-long standoff in Henderson was especially jarring. Construction equipment tore down the front of a townhouse before the suspect (not listed as owning the home) was found dead inside. Legal experts say the property owner, not the police, is typically left on the hook for the damage in these situations. [KLAS]
🌮 Street Vendor Licensing Program = Crackdown
Clark County approved an ordinance to regulate and license street vendors, going into effect April 30. The pop-up food stands would have to close by 9 p.m. and stay at least 500 feet away from schools and parks, severely limiting business and bringing up questions like “What’s the point?” [KVVU]
🛍️ Outdoor Shopping Center Coming to Henderson
A new open-air shopping and dining complex is in the works for Green Valley. The Cliff will replace an old office park near Paseo Verde and St. Rose. Construction could begin as soon as October. No escape room, please. [KVVU]
🏀 Today, in Sports …
The Aces did well in the WNBA draft, picking four players described as “steals” 👏 Top pick Caitlin Clark joins the Indiana Fever, who face the Aces in a July game moved to the T-Mobile Arena to capitalize on interest in the rising star. [KTNV]
