What's CITY Talking About?
👂Hear the Sphere
The company behind the Sphere reveals some form of external sound will enhance the exterior screen, possibly by summer. It’s worth noting the Sphere now owns Holoplot (the German company behind the interior’s high-tech sound system) and is developing a new movie presentation with an AI component 😳 [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
⛽ Home Sweet Gas Station
Imagine living 40 feet from a gas station. Sucks, right? Homeowners in a Southwest community are vowing to fight the construction of a too-close-for-comfort gas station near Durango and Blue Diamond after it was approved by the county commission. Plans for a shopping center in the spot were modified to include the pumps in 2020, but residents say they were never informed. [KTNV]
🎰 El Cortez Renovation Planned
How much do you want to spruce up a place on the National Register of Historic Places? El Cortez, which has been around since 1941, is spending $20 million on a renovation that will include a new high-limit lounge, restaurant, bars, and yes, Starbucks ☕ [KSNV]

Victoria Seaman Shares Her Vision for Las Vegas
Mayoral Mondays continues with a conversation between City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler and Victoria Seaman, one of the top-polling candidates for mayor of Las Vegas. She discusses her role in City Council, the future of the Animal Foundation, homelessness, the Badlands golf course dispute, and more.

So about that photo … The answer is C.
The unicorn is the mascot of the Rusty Spur Saloon, which was behind me when I took the photo. (The Highland Inn Motel is in the background of the shot). The Rusty Spur, near Dean Martin and Blue Diamond, is a small, but friendly dive bar with old license plates and Johnny Cash albums decorating the walls. Stop by, order a shot of whiskey, and hang out a while 🥃
