🪄 Can David Copperfield make a scandal disappear?
May 17, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
The Electric Daisy Carnival is this weekend. Why do I have a feeling that even if the wind picks up a bit, they’re not going to cancel this one 🤔 Despite claiming to anticipate a larger audience than ever, the festival still has passes available, which isn’t always the case this late in the game.
City Cast Las Vegas talks about the impact of EDC during today’s Friday news roundup. Wait’ll you hear what it takes just to get there 🚗 🚗 🚗
What's CITY Talking About?
🪄 Dave Copperfield Has a ‘Me Too’ Scandal
At least 16 women are accusing David Copperfield of inappropriate behavior, from grooming to groping and showing interest in teenagers while judging a beauty contest alongside Donald Trump. The Strip headliner denies wrongdoing — and some accusers have gone silent, which the Guardian suggests is due to the possibility of settlements. Copperfield returns to the MGM Grand May 20. The resort has yet to comment. [The Guardian]
☀️ Death Valley Vandal Suspect Found
Someone has come forward, claiming responsibility for toppling the historic salt tram tower in Death Valley National Park. The person said it happened while stuck in the mud and wasn’t an intentional act of vandalism. [KVVU]
⚖️ Inappropriate Endorsement?
When does a political endorsement cross the line? A complaint filed with the Nevada Ethics Commission claims Clark County D.A. Steve Wolfson violated state law by appearing in a campaign ad for his daughter, who is running for Las Vegas Municipal Judge. [Nevada Current]
🗳️ Swear On It?
Need a little more aggression in the mayoral race? The campaign manager for Shelley Berkley is accused of calling opponent Victoria Seaman the B-word after a debate last week. If you don’t know what the “b-word” is, click here and pretend you’re this emoji 😲 [Nevada Independent]
- Neither one of the candidates swore when interviewed by City Cast Las Vegas during our Mayoral Mondays series of podcasts, but they shared some thoughts on how they’d run the city. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
