🏅 A sports resort is coming to Vegas
June 13, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
🗳️ Tuesday’s Primary results provided few surprises, but the election cycle is shifting into a mode that’s anything but predictable.
With that in mind, I’m joining City Cast Las Vegas co-host Sarah Lohman and The List’s Andrew Kiraly tomorrow for the Friday news roundup to put the upcoming election into perspective. Don’t forget to listen in!
What's CITY Talking About?
🚫 Dogs Don’t Belong in Hot Cars
It’s hot. You see a dog inside a parked car. What do you do? If you break the glass, you’re committing a crime. But if you call authorities, the wait for help could mean the difference between the animal surviving, prompting a debate among Las Vegans on social media.
- This comes after a man was charged with animal cruelty when the bodies of six dogs were found in the back of a U-Haul truck. On the plus side, a dog in the front seat and others in an additional car were rescued in “good condition.” [KSNV]
🏈 Juice Auction
The lawyer supervising O.J. Simpson’s estate filed a legal request to auction off items owned by the late football star and murder suspect, including golf clubs, a car, and get this — the Heisman Trophy. You could even end up with the Juice’s driver’s license 😳 Try to use that to get in the club and see what happens. [KLAS]
🏅 Sports Resort Coming to Vegas
A $1.2 billion sports resort complex is planned for Vegas with Olympic-level athletes in mind. Z Athlete Village would open ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, featuring a 1,000-unit “condotel,” the world's largest indoor track and field arena, an aquatics center, gymnastics facility, and other athletic resources.
