What's CITY Talking About?

🏜️ Shooting Closes Valley of Fire

A reminder for whoever needs to hear it: park rangers have guns. One of them at Valley of Fire shot and killed a visitor on Wednesday, although details are slim on what led to the confrontation. The state park remained closed throughout Thursday while police investigated and is expected to be back open for the weekend. [KVVU]

⛽ Controversial Gas Station Running on Empty

Sometimes a good protest works. Plans are changing after residents complained about a proposed gas station within 40 feet of homes (which is against the county rules btw). Instead, the homeowners get to put up with a drive-thru restaurant and oil change service. [KLAS]

☀️ Neon Museum Limits Hours Due to Heat

In another sign it’s just too damn hot out there, the Neon Museum will be closed during daylight hours when the temperature exceeds 110 degrees. Nearly the entire exhibit of signs and marquees is outdoors. [Neon Museum]
