🚔 Where did police memorial donations go?
July 18, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
We’re waking up in a new version of Las Vegas without the Mirage 😿 If you didn’t get a chance to see the volcano show one last time, YouTuber Norma Geli live-streamed the final official presentation (although a few bonus shows took place afterwards) 🌋
I know … it’s not quite the same without feeling the heat of the fireballs from the Strip sidewalk 🔥

What's CITY Talking About?
🏥 Biden Tests Positive for COVID in Vegas
Stick around Vegas long enough, and you’ll catch something. President Biden capped off his second full day in town by delaying, then finally canceling his speech before UnidosUS at the MGM Grand after testing positive for COVID. [Nevada Current]
💵 Did Fiore Use Charity Donations For Herself?
Michele Fiore is facing a federal indictment on fraud charges related to her time on the Las Vegas City Council. The current Nye County Justice of the Peace is accused of keeping charity donations 😯 that were intended for a statue honoring fallen police officers 😟 and using those funds for campaign expenses, rent, and her daughter’s wedding 😦 [KSNV]
⛰️ Temple Shrinkage in Lone Mountain
After considering (and mostly ignoring) public comments, the Las Vegas City Council approved a controversial LDS temple in Lone Mountain, based on a commitment to lower the height of the steeple and limiting the usage of lights around the structure.
🎰 Neon Museum Moving to Arts District
As long as casinos continue to close in Vegas, the Neon Museum is going to keep running out of room to exhibit their old signs and artifacts. With that in mind, the Downtown attraction is moving to the Arts District and expanding its size in an area north of Charleston near a planned Evel Knievel Museum. [City of Las Vegas]
