😖 Confirmed: Hotel Fee to Book with a Real Person
MGM Resorts now charges a $15 nightly fee when booking a room by phone via a real-life human being. We don’t know if this applies to some or all of their properties, but props to Corey Levitan for giving the issue attention. [Casino.org]
- City Cast Las Vegas confirmed the fee when calling the reservations line, but were told applying the charge varies on a “call-by-call basis” and is waived for rewards members, military, AAA members, and — my guess — probably anyone who complains.
- City Cast Las Vegas executive producer Sonja Cho Swanson joins co-hosts Dayvid Figler and Sarah Lohman for the Friday news roundup to discuss the “phoney” fee along with the debate over school lunches and the NFL’s facial recognition technology. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

✍️ Remembering Jeff German
Now that Robert Telles is guilty of murder after a somewhat chaotic trial, let’s shift focus back to the victim, Jeff German, who would’ve turned 71 years old last Friday. The investigative journalist was killed for being good at his job — and holding the powerful accountable.
