🤑 What happens in Vegas … affects interest rates
September 17, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
😎 Did you enjoy the breeze yesterday? I know I did. As the weather cools down, get familiar with some of the best hikes throughout the valley. HGTV actually called Las Vegas one of the top 25 cities for hiking in the country, based in part on Summerlin parks and neighboring Red Rock Canyon.
- However, there’s more to love about Summerlin than an appreciation of the great outdoors 👇
What's CITY Talking About?
⚖️ 8 Years for Stabbing Police Dog
The man guilty of stabbing a Metro K9 will serve at least eight years in prison. Police dog Enzo survived his injuries, which included at least eight wounds, and returned to work over the summer. He’s a good boy. [KLAS]
- Our hearts are with Mick, a Nevada State Police K9 who died peacefully over the weekend ❤️ He’s a good boy too. [KVVU]
☎️ Ousted Trustee Defends Remote Work
An ousted school board trustee says she didn’t want to resign last week, but felt pressured after a criminal investigation accused her of living out of state. Katie Williams claims she was targeted for her conservative beliefs and still spends most of her time in North Las Vegas despite plans to get married and move permanently to Nebraska. [Nevada Independent]
🧮 The Math Doesn’t Add Up
Less than 20 percent of Clark County high school students are proficient in math. The good news: everybody has a calculator on ‘em at all times now. [KLAS]
🤑 Does Vegas Business Indicate a 'Soft Landing'?
Business is strong in Vegas, a place that tends to gauge Americans’ appetite for discretionary spending. The success of our local economy indicates the fed could cut interest rates this week — and possibly deliver the long-promised “soft-landing” on inflation 🤞 [Reuters]
