⚾️ Pete Rose Passes

Pete Rose has died at 83. A habit of betting on his own sport kept the record-setting slugger out of the Hall of Fame, but led him to Las Vegas where he spent the latter years of his life. [Cincinnati Enquirer]

🤍 Las Vegas Honors 10/1 Victims

It's been seven years since the Route 91 Harvest festival mass shooting. Work on a permanent memorial is expected to start in six months and finish by the tragedy’s 10th anniversary. [Associated Press]

⚖️ Lombardo Testifies at Fiore Trial

Governor Joe Lombardo called himself a “victim” when testifying in the trial of suspended Pahrump judge Michelle Fiore, who’s accused of misusing police memorial funds. Prosecutors attempted to trace a $5,000 donation from Lombardo’s then-campaign for sheriff to a bank account used by Fiore’s daughter. [KLAS]

🗳️ What, Lee Worry?

Congressional candidate John Lee says he’s “not worried about Black people” in leaked audio. The former North Las Vegas mayor is running against incumbent Steven Horsford (who’s Black) in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District (which is 15% Black). [HuffPost]

🧐 Trump Towers

The Nevada Republican Party “strongly condemns” a 43-foot statue of a naked Donald Trump that appeared off Interstate 15 near the Speedway. Want to see the art installation the GOP calls “deplorable” political theater? Sorry, it’s already been taken down and is moving on to other battleground states. [Nevada Globe]
