The Clark County School District spent $2.6 million on 282,935 pouches to block cellphone use in class this year. Students set their phones to “airplane mode” before using the pouch, prompting an obvious question: What’s the point? Teachers are accused of not always enforcing the pouches either. [KTNV]
- Meanwhile, CCSD is cutting hours and positions due to budget issues. [KVVU]
🏳️🌈 Gay-Friendly Hotel Closes
The Bent Inn has closed after less than a year. The 33-room, casino-free hotel near Fremont East was marketed towards the LGBTQ community, but may have been overshadowed by Queen, a similar concept that opened around the same time. The owners blame legal battles with a general contractor. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

🗳️ Every Vote Counts, Every Lawsuit Too
Why wait for the results? The Republican National Committee has filed more than 50 election-related lawsuits ahead of the election — and four are in Nevada. Whether the litigation fosters faith or sows distrust in the system is for you to decide. The Democrats have their own election-season suits too (like blocking the Green Party in Nevada), but only seven total. [Nevada Independent]
