What's CITY Talking About?

🌎 Could the Sphere Become … Profitable?

⚖️ Courtroom Cliff Notes
- Michele Fiore declined to testify in a trial to determine if the former City Council member used police memorial funds for personal use. Testimony by her daughter was stricken after pleading the fifth repeatedly. Closing arguments are today.
- A judge turned down Robert Telles’ request for a hearing to determine if he was treated unfairly when a jury was temporarily deadlocked in his trial. Jurors later found the former public official guilty of murdering an investigative reporter.
- Former trustee Katie Williams will not face charges for continuing to serve on the Clark County School District board after moving out of state. [KLAS]
⛺ Will Police Enforce Homeless Camping Bans?
Clark County is crafting a camping and sleeping ban on sidewalks and other public spaces to mirror one proposed by the City of Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Metro says police officers will only issue citations as a last resort. [KVVU]

🏀 Do or Die for the Aces
According to Sports Illustrated, the Las Vegas Aces “have lost their edge” 😧 Ouch! The team hasn’t been able to top the New York Liberty all season and now has to beat ‘em in three straight games to keep dreams of a WNBA championship three-peat alive. The series resumes tomorrow at the Michelob Ultra Arena. [Sports Illustrated]
- Win or lose, it’s been a monumental — and profitable — year for the Aces. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
