🤔 Something’s missing on Interstate 15
October 8, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
🎈 Coldplay released the video for “All My Love” over the weekend, featuring a now-viral moment that saw lead singer Chris Martin go undercover during karaoke night at Dino’s (with City Cast’s own Dayvid Figler in the audience).
But the video is so much more than a clever stunt. It showcases the beauty and soul of Las Vegas through the grit of Downtown and the filter of an unapologetic love song. It’s truly beautiful — and may bring a tear to your eye.
Hard to believe it was all shot on an iPhone.
What's CITY Talking About?
💥 Last Call for the Tropicana
It’s the final day of existence for the Tropicana. Crews are preparing to implode the resort’s two towers at 2:30 Wednesday morning. Be warned: Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed from Harmon to Hacienda and Tropicana Avenue will close from Dean Martin to Koval (including the I-15 ramps) from 11 p.m. until as late as 6 a.m. [KSNV]
- Viewing the implosion will be tricky, so we put together a guide on how to watch the Tropicana bite the dust. [Hey Las Vegas ✍️]
🛣️ HOV Lanes Go On Vacation
You may have noticed: the HOV lanes on Interstate 15 are gone 🥳 Don’t get too excited. It’s only for road work. They’ll return next summer with even more carpool lanes added. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🗳️ Election Polling
The latest in Nevada …
- More than 30% of Nevadans distrust U.S. voting security in general, but only 14% feel that way about elections here in the Silver State 🤔
- Harris leads Trump in the presidential race (47% to 44%).
- Rosen leads Brown in the U.S. senate race (48% to 41%).
- A ballot initiative to require voter ID has overwhelming support (71%). [Nevada Independent]
⚖️ Michele Fiore Awaits Sentencing
A lawyer for Michele Fiore says his client is exploring possible appeals, but is focused on a January 6 sentencing date. The longtime Nevada politician raised donations for a police memorial that ended up fully funded by a real estate group. Last week, Fiore was found guilty of fraud, using the money for personal expenses. [Nevada Independent]
- City Cast Las Vegas co-host and lawyer Dayvid Figler talks about the surprises that emerged in the case with Las Vegas Review-Journal court reporter Katelyn Newberg. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
