🍂 What to do when Gilcrease Orchard is full
October 23, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
🎉 Happy Hump Day!
It’s Wednesday, which means we’re halfway through the week — and our fall membership campaign 😁 🍂
If you’re still on the fence about becoming a member, maybe our exclusive City Cast Las Vegas tote bag will win you over?
This isn’t just any tote — it’s designed with Las Vegas locals in mind. I got mine a few days ago and I especially love the shrimp cocktail graphic in the middle. So Vegas, huh? I have a soft spot for the desert tortoise too.

The only way to snag this tote is by becoming a member this week during our fall campaign.
Don’t miss out!

What's CITY Talking About?

😣 Battle Born Ballot Blues
Trying to make sense of early voting turnout could be an exercise in self-torture 😵💫 Registered Republicans outpaced Democrats by nearly two-to-one on the first day of in-person voting in Nevada. Three days later, the difference closed to around two points (or less than 6,000 voters) with mail ballots factored in. It was a four-point difference as of last night. [Nevada Independent]
- Adding a bullet point here to emphasize the numbers only reflect voter registration. Actual votes won’t be revealed until after polls close on Election Day, Nov. 5.
- Further evidence of Nevada’s importance: Bill Clinton campaigned in Vegas on behalf of Kamala Harris yesterday, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden is in town today, and Tim Walz will be here this weekend. On the other side of the Thunderdome, JD Vance campaigns at Treasure Island today and Donald Trump appears at the Thomas & Mack tomorrow. [KTNV]
💸 Michele Fiore Employment Update
Convicted wire fraud felon Michele Fiore remains suspended as Pahrump Justice of the Peace, but now without pay. Sentencing is January 6, 2025. Can’t imagine anything else newsworthy happening that day 🤔 [KLAS]
- The trial was wild. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
⚾ Bally’s Resort to Open with A’s Stadium
Bally’s Corp. wants the first phase of its new Strip resort to be complete when the neighboring A’s baseball stadium opens in 2028. That way, Vegas can maximize the traffic headaches from day one 🚘 [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
📚 Read Any Good Books Lately?
Charles Bock, recognized as Nevada’s most famous author by Business Insider, sits down with City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler to discuss the most essential novels about Las Vegas and why our city works so well as a literary setting. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
