🪖 National Guard to beef up election security
October 30, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
🍂 November is almost here — and there’s more than the election to talk about.
Really.

So I joined City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler and The Town magazine editor Melinda Sheckells to help plan the month ahead. We discuss big events, small events, places to eat, and more. Listen in! We even talk about how to celebrate Christmas early 🎄 [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

What's CITY Talking About?
⚖️ Guilty Verdict in Circus Circus Killings
Julius Trotter was found guilty of murder and could face the death penalty. Prosecutors say he was pushing on hotel room doors at Circus Circus, found one with a broken lock that opened, and stabbed two Vietnamese tourists to death. He spent the rest of the night gambling at the Palms. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🌎 Kamala Campaigns on the Sphere
Kamala Harris raised more than a billion dollars — and she has to spend it somewhere. The campaign is now running ads on the Sphere. [CBS/KLAS]
- Both Harris and rival Donald Trump will be in Vegas for dueling campaign rallies on Halloween 🎃 Guess which one is gonna have J. Lo? [The Hill]
- Gov. Lombardo is activating the national guard for an increased security presence on Election Day. I remember when we didn’t have to worry about this kind of stuff. [KSNV]
🤑 The LINQ Promenade, Worth a Cool $275M
Caesars Entertainment is finalizing a sale of The LINQ promenade to a real estate partnership for $275 million. As long as the High Roller wheel continues to have bartenders on board, I’m cool with it 🍸 [KLAS]
🏁 Formula One, Less Annoying in 2024
We’re less than four weeks from the Las Vegas Grand Prix and a smaller version of a temporary bridge on Flamingo appears to be less disruptive than last year. Don’t worry. Locals will still find a way to hate on F1. [KTNV]
- Formula 1 is doing its best to win over Vegas after mixed results in year one. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
☀️ Californians Invade Nevada
About 40,000 Californians moved to Nevada between 2022 and 2023. That’s about the same as Washington state and behind both Texas and Arizona. Overall, more people are leaving California than moving in. [Yahoo/Business Insider]
