🚧 When the Durango expansion begins
November 11, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
☀️ Good morning!
It’s only 1,457 days until the next presidential election 👀
And just four days until the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight on Netflix 👊
And just like that anticipated battle, this newsletter is only an exhibition, sanctioned by the skin of our teeth for your enjoyment.

What's CITY Talking About?

🚔 Policing Homelessness
While most of Las Vegas was laser-focused on Election Day, Clark County passed an ordinance to crack down on homeless camps. Those who fail to move or accept an available bed at a shelter could be faced with a citation or arrest. [KVVU]
- This comes as the City of Las Vegas voted to strengthen an already existing ban on camping. Now a question remains: Will police enforce these bans? City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler spoke to Undersheriff Andrew Walsh about how Metro plans to approach the situation. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🪧 A Perfect Strike?
Hundreds of hospitality workers plan to walk off the job at Virgin Hotels on November 15. Formula One comes to town the following week — and the resort is within walking distance of the race track. [KSNV]
👷 Durango Gears Up for Expansion
Construction on the Durango expansion begins before the end of the year. That’s soon 😬 Get ready for more slot machines, a new parking garage, a little noise, and plenty of dust. [KTNV]
- Durango has barely been open a year — and made an immediate impression. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🗳️ News You Already Knew
Making it official, the Associated Press called Nevada’s U.S. Senate race for Jacky Rosen and the state of Nevada for Donald Trump over the weekend. [AP News]
- Sam Brown removed his heels from whatever they were dug in and conceded the Senate race to Rosen. [X]
