🐶 How do you lose a 700-pound dog?
November 12, 2024 · Rob Kachelriess
💸 I’ve realized I pay Netflix $22.99 a month to watch “Seinfeld” reruns when I can’t sleep and the occasional documentary about alien abductions.
When it comes to the latter, at least there’s something new to check out. The streaming giant just released Investigation Alien, featuring the latest evidence of extraterrestrial life by longtime Vegas journalist George Knapp, who loves this kind of stuff 👽

What's CITY Talking About?

🤔 Is Nevada a Red State Now?
Today marks one week since Election Day. Now that the dust has settled, do you have any moments of reflection to share? Grounded optimism? Unbridled terror? Let us know 📧
- City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler caught up with Jon Ralston of the Nevada Independent to discuss the voting trends that helped swing Nevada — and the rest of the country — to Donald Trump. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

🏨 New Hotel Would Be the Tallest in Vegas
Today, LVXP developers appear before the board of Winchester — a town nobody talks about that covers the north end of the Strip. We’re getting a better look at plans for the resort, which would occupy the lot between the Sahara and Fontainebleau, have an arena and theater, and break the record for tallest occupied hotel tower in Vegas. It also breaks my rule that hotels shouldn’t have initials for names. [KSNV]
⛰️ A Draining Situation in Lone Mountain
Can a dispute over a drainage line derail a temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lone Mountain? Probably not. The Planning Commission votes on it tonight. [KLAS]
- The Planning Commissioner shared some advice on effectively challenging what’s built in your neighborhood. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
⛺ Homeless Cross Onto School Property
The presence of homeless camps are a little too close for comfort to Spring Valley High School — most notably a baseball field, where the press box was torn down after it got used as a bathroom. [KTNV]
- Police face new questions in enforcing camping bans. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🐶 Ruff Recovery
Mr. Deeds, a stuffed 10-foot-tall dog that weighs 700 lbs., was stolen from the Good Deed Project and found tied to a trailer in a parking lot near Chinatown. The suspect was spotted sleeping behind the wheel, but ran off when confronted. I’m struggling for a clever “dognapping” joke here. [KLAS]
