What's CITY Talking About?

😢 Sniffles for Mr. Piffles
We’re sad to report the death of Mr. Piffles, the onstage chihuahua mascot (and show-stealer) for Piff the Magic Dragon, whose Vegas production runs at the Flamingo. Last night, the resort held an opening ceremony for the dog-friendly “Mr. Piffles Magical Playground” on what would’ve been the little guy’s 17th birthday. While Mr. Piffles is gone, it will be hard to forget him. Piff the Magic Dragon already had his buddy cloned, guaranteeing the show will go on — the way we know and love it. [KLAS]

🎰 New Inspirada Resort Will Take Some Time
Red Rock Resorts (the secret alias of Station Casinos) is easing the gas pedal on developing a new resort and casino in the Inspirada area. For now, the company’s main focus is on renovations and expansions at existing properties, including Durango, which is on pace to add a second hotel tower. [Nevada Independent]

💸 Scam Goes Hog Wild
Beware a rise in “Pig Butchering” scams in Las Vegas. Victims are coaxed into online relationships, talked into investing in cryptocurrency and other schemes, and give up more dough after seeing phony gains. Spoiler: it doesn’t end well. [KVVU]
