I’m just curious to see what the Junkyard Burrito tastes like 👀

What's CITY Talking About?

🏆 R.I.P. Lois Tarkanian
For nearly 60 years, she was the wife of Jerry Tarkanian, the iconic basketball coach who took UNLV to the national championship, but Lois Tarkanian deserves her own trophy as well. Education was her passion, from teaching deaf children to speak to most recently, serving on the Board of Regents. In the middle of this, she found time to be a Las Vegas City Council member and on the Clark County School Board. Lois Tarkanian passed away at 90 years old. [Nevada Independent]
🚨 Online Dating Turns Deadly
The family of Brandon Durham wants the police officer who shot and killed the 43-year-old arrested and charged. Durham called for help during a break-in at his home and was struggling with an intruder when shots were fired by the officer. [KTNV]
- The intruder, Alejandra Boudreaux, told police she had a sexual relationship with Durham after the two met on a dating app. The suspect indicated she was suicidal and refused to appear in court. [KLAS]
🤔 Wife Loses Husband at the Fontainebleau
See if you can follow this one. A man was at a casino bar while his wife was asleep in their hotel room at the Fontainebleau. He struck up a conversation with a woman — and the next thing he knows, woke up in another hotel room with his Rolex missing. That’s the story anyway. Some advice: If a woman says hello to you in a hotel casino bar in Vegas, say goodbye immediately. [KLAS]
🪧 Virgin Hires Replacement Workers
As employees continue to strike outside Virgin Hotels, the resort claims to have filled those positions with temporary workers. Maybe once F1 ends, those temps will end up picketing too? [KSNV]
🚌 When’s The Last Time You Rode the Bus?
While we continue to moan and complain about traffic and congestion, you may want to give mass transit another chance. City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler spoke to RTC CEO MJ Maynard about misconceptions connected to public transportation in Las Vegas, what the future looks like, and why it’s so tough to get to the airport.
