🐶 What can pets eat for Thanksgiving?

Welcome back 👋 Now that the weekend is over, we have one question to address: Did F1 learn anything in year two?

🏎️ I spent the past few days getting immersed in the full Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix experience, from trackside to the paddock, Sphere, and pop-up activities throughout the Strip. I even met up with interim executive producer Layla Muhammad in front of Turn 3 😁

So I joined City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler for a quick-turnaround episode to share some thoughts on how the weekend turned out. What did F1 get right? And are there still problems to solve? We also talk about the inaugural Neon City Festival, which aimed to complement the Grand Prix, offering some activity to keep Downtown businesses busy.

🪧 Virgin Strike Continues

F1 is over, but the Virgin Hotels strike that aimed to disrupt Virgin Hotels’ involvement in the race continues. The resort responded to the protest directly with the words “let them vote” displayed on its marquee over the weekend. Full disclosure: I crossed the picket line to drink an Old Fashioned at ONE Steakhouse. [NBC News/Reuters]

💻 Five Charged in Hack Attack

Five suspects are facing federal charges in the cyberattack that sidelined gaming operations for both MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment last year. One of them impersonated an MGM employee after viewing a LinkedIn profile and called the IT desk to gain access to the network. [KTNV]

🏰 Excalibur Blamed for Tourist Death

A slip and fall at the Excalibur pool contributed to the death of a tourist who was celebrating his 60th birthday. That’s according to the family of the man, now suing MGM Resorts for negligence, citing slippery steps. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

🗳️ Every Vote Really Does Count

A North Las Vegas City Council candidate who lost by just eight votes won’t seek a recount. The reason — it would cost him $156,000. (I’ll do it for 50 bucks 🖐️ I even got a calculator on my phone.) [KVVU]

This sculpture of a towering wooly mammoth makes a dramatic impression against the blue Nevada sky.

So about that photo … The answer is A.

The "Monumental Mammoth," near the visitors center at Ice Age Fossils State Park, was designed by a teenage Girl Scout who repurposed scrap metal and other wasted material into a work of community art.
