🍸 Happy Repeal Day!
This “nation of drunkards” ratified the 21st Amendment 91 years ago on December 5, 1933, officially repealing the failed experiment known as Prohibition.
So there couldn’t be a better time to go on a crawl of the five oldest dive bars in Las Vegas. City Cast Las Vegas co-hosts Sarah Lohman and Dayvid Figler share the details on visiting Atomic Liquors, Decatur Package Liquor & Cocktails, Huntridge Tavern, Dino’s, and Four Mile — all in one afternoon, one drink at a time. What's CITY Talking About?

🎊 Vegas Has a New Mayor
The cheese was strong as Shelley Berkley was sworn in as Las Vegas Mayor. A high school marching band played “Viva Las Vegas” (of course) and the Justice who led the ceremony pulled out his best dad joke, saying “we’re not going to have a Goodman, but we are going to have a good woman.” 😐 [KLAS]

🏀 New Resort Dribbles Forward
The ambitious LVXP resort, which includes three hotel towers and an NBA-ready arena, received zoning approval from Clark County on its journey to help revitalize the north end of the Strip — or completely fizzling out like previous projects proposed for the same lot. [KSNV]
💸 Holiday Hosing
With little advance notice, MGM Resorts jacked up the prices on parking and resort fees at the company’s Vegas properties. If I’m paying $45 a day at the Excalibur above the room rate itself, that internet better be super fast. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

🙀 Henderson is Curbing Its Cat Problem
Henderson is launching a program to trap, neuter, and vaccinate stray or feral cats before releasing them back on their own. Previously, the city was a little too trigger-happy to euthanize “community cats,” which often do fine without human owners.
- This comes as Henderson’s animal shelter faces accusations of being understaffed and misusing funds to euthanize healthy cats. [Nevada Current]
