What's CITY Talking About?

🥵 Resorts World Feels the Heat
The man who gave the Strip paid parking is now looking to turn things around at Resorts World. Former MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren is coming in as chairman of a new board of directors. [Yahoo!/PR Newswire]
- The property had its worst quarter ever, which Resorts World blamed on the hot weather 🤔 [Nevada Independent]
- Today is the deadline for Resorts World to respond to a complaint by the Nevada Gaming Control Board connected to “illegal bookmaking” and other allegations. [IGB]
- MGM Resorts may have turned a blind eye to questionable gamblers during Murren’s tenure. [Nevada Current]
🙏 Justice for Reba
Two people have been arrested in connection to the death of a bulldog — named Reba by those who tried to save her — left outside a grocery store inside a sealed plastic tub. One of the suspects refused to appear in court. Maybe that person deserves to be hauled in before the judge inside a plastic tub? [KLAS]
🛬 Kyle Canyon Road Becomes a Runway
A small plane that took off from North Las Vegas Airport made an emergency landing near Mt. Charleston on Kyle Canyon Road. After repairs were made, police allowed the plane to take off again … which is a lot easier than towing the aircraft away. [KSNV]
💥 Street Racers Keep Hitting Same Wall
Illegal street racing is bad enough in Las Vegas, but it’s even worse when your house is caught up in the middle of it. A homeowner says his property wall, which sits on the corner of an intersection, keeps getting hit by cars speeding by on turns when racing. Shocker: the insurance company isn’t eager to cover the damages. [KVVU]
