What's CITY Talking About?
🕷️ Murder Charges Dropped for ‘Black Widow’
Murder charges were officially dropped against Margaret Rudin, who served 20 years in prison after the charred remains of her husband, real estate investor Ron Rudin, were found in the desert near Laughlin. Dubbed the “Black Widow” (back when the press would do that stuff), Margaret Rudin was released from behind bars in 2022. She’s now suing Nevada, claiming a wrongful conviction. [KLAS]
🚨 Police Shoot South Point Hotel Guest
Police shot and killed a man accused of lunging at an officer at the South Point hotel. The man was believed to be suicidal and locked himself in a hotel room, leading to a standoff with Metro. [KSNV]
🎰 Is ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Rigged?
A lawsuit against International Game Technology, which has a major presence in Las Vegas — natch — claims the popular Wheel of Fortunate slot machine is rigged 😮 Specifically, the bonus wheel, which plaintiffs say is programmed to land more frequently on lower monetary values. - Long before this lawsuit, casinos found other ways to keep you from winning money. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🗳️ Should Nevada Lead Primary Season?
After the South Carolina primary was ushered to the front of the line to make things easier for President Biden in 2024, Nevada Democrats are now pushing for the Silver State to be first in the nation in choosing the party’s next presidential nominee. Well, we have until 2028 to figure it out. [Nevada Independent]
