Viral Moment Earns 26 Years, Maybe More

Remember the guy who jumped over a bench to attack a Las Vegas judge? Well, he was sentenced to at least 26 years in jail. Not excusing anything here, but that seems surprisingly high 🤔 Convicted murderers have gotten off with far less. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

  • Speaking of which … the couple accused of actions leading to the death of Reba the bulldog could receive a maximum of four years if convicted — although the DA is doing his best to throw the book at ‘em. [KLAS]

🏁 The F1 Hangover, Slow to Shake Off

Formula 1 is the profit-killer that keeps on giving this holiday season 💸 More than two weeks after the Las Vegas Grand Prix, businesses like Battista’s Hole in the Wall and Ferraro’s say revenue remains dramatically down as locals avoid the area due to ongoing track deconstruction. [KVVU]

🎻 Canned Nutz

The annual performances of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” by the Nevada Ballet Theatre at the Smith Center will go without live music during its full holiday run for the first time in more than 30 years. The reason for the canned tracks? Stalled union negotiations. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

🧐 2024 is Almost Over

About a year ago, City Cast Las Vegas put together Bingo cards to predict what would happen in 2024 — a year that turned out to be anything but predictable. So co-hosts Dayvid Figler and Sarah Lohman welcomed local artist Brent Holmes to look back on the year to see what we got right — and how we were way off.
