🛫 Plane takes off, doesn’t return
January 13, 2025 · Rob Kachelriess
🇺🇲 We’re a week away from Inauguration Day — or as some call it, the end of Dry January.
As President Trump promises to make America great again (again), his new administration is ready with big plans. Personally, I’m looking forward to welcoming Canada as the 51st state, along with its health care system, but where do things stand right here in Nevada?

Gabby Birenbaum, Washington correspondent for the Nevada Independent, joins City Cast Las Vegas co-host Dayvid Figler to discuss what the next four years will mean on a local level. Think of the conversation as an unconditional discharge on immigration, taxes, transportation, and other topics.

What's CITY Talking About?

🛩️ Plane Disappears Over Nevada Desert
A small plane with one person on board took off from North Las Vegas airport on January 2 and never returned. The 65-year-old pilot was expected to loop around Mt. Charleston, but data last shows the aircraft near Tonopah. [KTNV]
🛎️ Hotel Discounts for Wildfire Victims
A number of Vegas hotels are offering discounted rates to California wildfire evacuees. [KVVU]
- The rooms at Primm Valley Casino Resorts are just $29 a night without pet or resort fees. Bonus: No charge to see Bonnie & Clyde's Death Car either. [KLAS]
🎬 Planned Movie Studio in Development Hell
Warner Bros. Discovery is no longer working with a developer on a new movie studio for the Southwest Valley. The entertainment company still plans to move forward on the project with another partner.
- Even more important — those sweet Nevada tax cuts expected to be approved in the legislature this year. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
