What's CITY Talking About?
🛑 New Vegas Loop Station, Traffic Delays Included
Speaking of errors, the Vegas Loop of underground Tesla tunnels continues to expand. A new station at the Westgate officially opened last week — and it comes with an added layer of technology: a traffic light that turns red for well over a minute while oncoming cars share the same tunnel. - Despite concerns about oversight, Clark County says it’s “comfortable” with safety measures added to the system. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
💰 Million-Dollar Settlement
A CCSD police officer kept his job, but a physical encounter with two students led to a $1 million dollar settlement. The ACLU says at least part of it will go towards college funds. I say — put the rest on Bitcoin 🤑[KVVU]
🎰 Is the Casino Biz Getting Soft?
Strip casinos saw five straight months of year-on-year gaming revenue declines. Is it time to panic? Probably not. Slot machines are up and casinos had less traffic during the Formula 1 race, which was a bigger draw in 2023. [Global Gaming Business]
- So what do we really want out of Las Vegas? 🤔 City Cast Las Vegas co-hosts Sarah Lohman and Dayvid Figler talked to artist Justin Favela about the state of all things Vegas in 2025. What’s in? What’s out? It’s a fun discussion, so check it out. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
