City Cast Las Vegas
🚗 The drive to Phoenix is getting better
February 3, 2025 · Rob Kachelriess
🎰 Las Vegas has a trade show for everything — including adult entertainment 👀
So City Cast Las Vegas co-host Sarah Lohman and burlesque star Dirty Martini spent some time at the recent AVN Expo to see what the sindustry is all about these days — and its place in Las Vegas.

There’s a lot of adults-only chatter in this episode. Listen with caution if you have kids around.

What's CITY Talking About?

🥶 What Federal Funding Freezes Mean for Nevada
Nevada still has until the end of 2026 to spend $1.3 billion of pandemic stimulus money. If those funds are frozen or rescinded by the Trump administration, that affects housing, broadband, education, university projects, and childcare. A grant to support rooftop solar projects in the state is also at risk. [Nevada Current]

💻 Worst Boss Ever?
A woman is suing her former boss, who’s accused of posting nude photos of her, along with her phone number, on Craigslist. Current “revenge porn” laws don’t allow the victim to sue Craigslist for hosting the content. [KLAS]
🛣️ Your Phoenix Road Trip Will Get Easier
Good news for road trippers who know the drive between Vegas and Phoenix sometimes falls into “not so great” territory. Work is underway to expand two-lane stretches into four lanes on U.S. 93 — and yes, improvements are already in motion for that annoying traffic-light interchange with Interstate 40 in Kingman. 🐶 Local Doggie Competes in Puppy Bowl
I’d flip the channel from Kendrick Lamar for this. A three-legged shelter dog named Maxx will represent Vegas during the Puppy Bowl, which airs on Discovery during the Super Bowl’s halftime show. [KVVU]

Las Vegas Chatter

Today marks two weeks since Donald Trump walked back into the Oval Office with the subtlety of slamming a car door.
Our readers have thoughts.
So disappointed to see that rights are being thrown out the window and we care more about increasing fossil fuel usage, changing geography names, land grabs, pardoning those who committed crimes, and making billionaires a part of a government that’s supposed to be by the people, for the people.
— Nancy S.
Cautiously optimistic. So far, so good.
— Don G.
Why should we be angry? We voted for him in this state. Anything‘s gotta be better than what we’ve had in the past.
— Louise A.
I’m excited, relieved, and way more relaxed that the last four years are just a memory with some cleanup after the shit show. Greenland, sure. Canada, yes please.
— Deb C.
Embarrassed for us as a nation. A jury of your peers holds no significance if our laws are not upheld.
— Ronald E.
Oddly enough, I’ve noticed a major decrease of Trump bumper stickers, magnets, and apparel around our neighborhood. Perhaps they regret their decision now that his policies will affect them too?
— Mikaela C.
Gov. Lombardo needs to be voted out. So very disrespectful to fly those flags (at full-staff) for Trump (on Inauguration Day). They all should have been at half-staff in respect for our late, great president Jimmy Carter. He deserved our respect in Nevada, not Trump.
— Eileen R.
Please, less Trump. I am begging you. He only dominates the conversation if you let him, and so far, you’re letting him.
— Lynn C.
🌮 Readers were enthusiastic about fish taco recommendations too.
Forgive me for my chain-blasphemy! Wahoo's gets my nod for the best fish tacos. Birthed in 1988 in Costa Mesa, their surfside pedigree is strong, and their tacos are consistently delicious and stuffed full of spicy grilled Mahi. (Well, mine are.)
— James P.
Bajamar … hands down, the best fish tacos in all of Vegas.
— Katrina Z.
The Lounge at the Lakes. Best fish tacos ever!
— Jonathan C.
Bajamar. Anyone who claims otherwise is just fishing for attention.
— Polly S.
🏒 A few of you saw Dayvid Figler and Sarah Lohman firing up the crowd on behalf of City Cast Las Vegas during the Vegas Golden Knights game last week 🚨

Good job cranking the siren. Here are some candid pictures I took of y'all.
— Allison M.
I've been a Florida Panthers fan since inception. Was excited to see you at the game but bummed my team lost.

It took a while, but the ‘80s are officially over.
And there are better places to grab a drink these days anyway 🍸
