📺 CCSD, but make it reality TV
March 3, 2025 · — Adrian González
Howdy! My wife JoAnna and I purchased our first home together recently, an experience akin to an apocalyptic film like “The Hunger Games” or “Mad Max.” It was quite the process, but we learned a lot.

One of the biggest hurdles is finding something affordable, especially when prices in Las Vegas are higher than they’ve ever been. Thankfully, there are assistance programs that can help — read about them below.
Let’s start with the news.

What's CITY Talking About?
🥎 Anti-Trans Task Force Under Scrutiny
The Nevadans for Equal Rights Committee filed an ethics complaint against Nevada Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony over a task force he launched in January to ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports, accusing him of misusing state resources to advance his political career. Anthony’s office says the task force helps protect women and promote state tourism. [KSNV]
💡 What’s Up With Those Mystery Mountain Lights?
Have you noticed random solar lights popping up around mountain ridges? A group of anonymous Vegas residents, who call themselves the “Light Hunter League,” are displeased and have been secretly coordinating to take them down. They even have a drone for reconnaissance. [KVVU]
📚 Turning the Page on DEI
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is shutting down its diversity program across 25 branches to comply with a Trump administration order, including book displays highlighting diverse authors or heritage months. Library officials said public programming would not be affected. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

📺 Clark County School District, But Make it Reality TV
As the largest employer in Nevada and the nation’s fifth-largest school district, there’s a lot at stake for CCSD’s next superintendent. With the search down to three finalists, we imagine each candidate as a contestant in The Bachelorette. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
