🏟️ Big changes for the A’s

March 7, 2025 · Rob Kachelriess

😶‍🌫️ Hey Vegas …

Now that President Trump wants the U.S. to stop producing pennies, it’s time to put ‘em to good use.

RISE holds a grand opening celebration tomorrow for its new Henderson dispensary on Boulder Highway. Buy an eighth of flower and get another eighth of Bubba Fett (the coolest name ever for a strain) for a penny. The first 100 people who spend $50 get free tacos too 🤯 The fun begins at 7:30 a.m.

🚈 Light Rail Overdue for Nevada’s Big Cities?

With all this talk about high-speed rail to California, isn’t it about time we consider a regional light-rail system to zip around Las Vegas and Reno? A new bill in the legislature wants to do just that, but — yes, it’s complicated. [Nevada Current]

⚾ The A’s Draft a New President

And they picked the right guy for the job. Marc Badain helped guide the Raiders move from NorCal to Vegas as president of the football team and now plans to do the same in the world of baseball for the A’s. [KSNV]

  • Meanwhile, the A’s are prepping the old Tropicana site for ballpark construction and updated the Las Vegas Stadium Authority on the progress yesterday with new renderings. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
  • Partner Bally’s Corp., who plans to integrate a resort with the stadium, saw its revenue and stock tank so bad, it canceled a routine investors call. [KLAS]

🎭 Deaf Jam 👍

For the first time, “Menopause The Musical” will feature a deaf cast member in performances tonight and tomorrow at Harrah’s. The shows begin at 8 p.m. with closed-captioning and ASL interpreters. Tickets are discounted ($60+) with a portion of revenue going towards efforts to bring a deaf resource center to Nevada. [F2F]

🍽️ Start Spreading the News

Golden Steer owners Amanda Signorelli and Nick McMillan will move to New York while preparing to open the iconic steakhouse’s first location outside Vegas. The restaurant is going big, taking over a historic location in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village with a few Big Apple exclusives on the menu. [Eater New York]
