The Atomic Museum recently tracked down the true identity of “Miss Atomic Bomb” — Anna Lee Mahoney, a New Yorker who worked under a different name as a Copa showgirl at the Sands when the iconic photo was taken in 1957 👀
As the museum prepares a new summer exhibit to honor the discovery, City Cast Las Vegas thought it would be a good time to examine the connection between our community and the culture of the Atomic Age, as well as the legacy of nuclear weapons testing in Southern Nevada. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

⚖️ Man Checked In, Never Checked Out
A man in town for a work conference was robbed by a sex worker and died of a fentanyl overdose while staying at the Venetian’s Palazzo tower. His widow believes it’s the hotel’s fault — and filed a lawsuit. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🚁 Vehicle Hit By Helicopter
A tour helicopter crashed while trying to land at North Las Vegas Airport. Nobody was seriously hurt — although a parked vehicle was hit. The helicopter was a lightweight Robinson R44 model. You could even buy one yourself for less than 200 grand. [KTNV]
👻 ‘Ghost Students’ Scam CSN for Millions
Hackers pulled off a scam at the College of Southern Nevada after enrolling a series of “ghost students” who qualified for financial aid, but didn’t exist. CSN had to pay back the U.S. Department of Education for the federal loans it awarded the fake students. School officials figured something was up when the school year started — and suddenly a large number of transfer students weren’t showing up. [KLAS]
