☘️ Get ready for a busy weekend!
We’ve already told you about the biggest and best St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Las Vegas, but did you know that Reno also goes above and beyond for the Irish holiday?
WalletHub even ranked the “Biggest Little City in the World” behind only Boston as the best U.S. city to celebrate the Irish holiday — and it’s a fun road trip from Vegas too 🚘

What's CITY Talking About?

🏆 CCSD Has a New Superintendent
It only took a year, but the Clark County School District now has a new superintendent, voting 7-0 for Jhone Ebert among three finalists last night. Previously the Nevada superintendent of public instruction, she now has the honor and assignment of turning around the nation’s fifth largest school district. [KSNV]
- The new super might have thoughts on Nevada joining a lawsuit that attempts to stop the White House from dismantling the Department of Education. [Las Vegas Sun]
- And if that wasn’t enough education news, Dr. Stacy S. Klippenstein is the new College of Southern Nevada president. [KLAS]

The superintendent reveal is the “hot headline” (or … “hot ed-line” 👍) in the Friday News Roundup for City Cast Las Vegas. Today’s episode also discusses a push for Nevada to hire fired federal employees, the anticipated Vanderpump Hotel on the Strip, and a new way the A’s are making money off Las Vegas. 🎰 Tribal Casino Coming to the Strip (Eventually)
Native American owners of a vacant lot on the Strip (which includes part of the Route 91 Harvest festival site) submitted initial plans to Clark County for a casino resort with a convention center and theater. A pitch for the Golden Knights to move to a new arena on property appears to be on ice. The next step: securing $2 billion in outside funding. So yes, this will take a while. 🌎 Not the Same As It Was
The Sphere officially shot down chatter of Harry Styles playing the Sphere, saying there have “never been plans” for a residency, despite reports to the contrary. Watermelon sugar, bye! 👋 [Billboard]
😟 All You Can’t Eat
Did you know the Luxor still had a buffet? It’s closing soon. [Casino.org]
- Funny enough, five years ago this week, nearly all Vegas buffets closed at the onset of COVID panic, with the remaining "non-essential businesses" not far behind. [KVVU]
- There are some things I actually miss about pandemic lockdowns. [Hey Las Vegas ✍️]
