📣 Sanders and AOC rally in Vegas

March 21, 2025 · Rob Kachelriess

Ready for the weekend?

🌎 Earth Hour returns tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. and it's tradition for Strip resorts to dim their exterior lights for environmental awareness.

This happened once while I was on the High Roller wheel to show off the Vegas views to a friend from out of town. (It sucked. Too much darkness.) So don’t do anything involving a view tomorrow night.

What's CITY Talking About?

🔥 Tesla Arson Suspect, Still at Large

The FBI and Metro continue to search for the person responsible for shooting Teslas and setting a few of ‘em on fire at a repair shop. Vandalism? Definitely. A political statement? Probably. But is it domestic terrorism? President Trump thinks so. [USA Today]

  • City Cast Las Vegas tackles the question during the Friday news roundup, discussing the latest on the Tesla fires, a union effort by UNLV grad students, and yes, the weather. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

📣 Fighting Oligarchy

Sen. Bernie Sanders (sounding like a seasoned two-time presidential candidate) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (sounding a whole lot like a future one) joined Nevada Congressman Steven Horsford for a “Fighting Oligarchy” rally at Craig Ranch Regional Park. Sanders knows Nevada well, having both a caucus win and heart attack here during the 2020 campaign season. [KSNV]

🚘 Strange Waze

A family of three somehow disappeared while driving a rental car on the way to Las Vegas from the Grand Canyon. Pivotal clue: GPS info last showed the BMW on Interstate 40 around the same time a massive crash took place in winter weather conditions. [CBS News]

🙏 Remembering Norm Clarke

We’re sad to hear about the passing of Norm Clarke who was in hospice care following treatment for cancer. He covered sports for the Associated Press and entertainment for the Las Vegas Review-Journal during his decades-long journalism career. Clarke was 82 years old. I know Las Vegas will miss him.
