What's CITY Talking About?

⚖️ Wynn Loss Record
Steve Wynn believes protections for journalists in libel lawsuits are too strong and hoped the Supreme Court would take on his case against the Associated Press, which reported on sexual assault allegations against the casino mogul. The court said nope. [The Hill]
🥕 Food Programs Starved for Funds
The USDA canceled funding for programs that help Nevada buy local meats and produce for use in schools and food banks. This is good news for whoever makes Lunchables. Bad news for everyone else. [Nevada Independent]
👇 New Laws Still on the Table
As the current legislative session nears the halfway mark, lawmakers are looking at bills that would:
- Allow alcohol delivery with meals. [KSNV]
- Designate Picon Punch as the official state drink. [KSNV]
- Expand the use of cameras in patient rooms at assisted living facilities. [KTNV]
- Create a free, statewide database for domestic violence convictions. [KTNV]
- Update the team involved with the 988 suicide and crisis hotline. [KOLO]
- Crack down on access to apartment master keys. [KRNV]
- Make the “Fruit Loop” LGBTQ district in Vegas a historic landmark. [KLAS]
- Prevent judges from enforcing courtroom dress codes against unhoused and low-income defendants. [Nevada Current]
- Explore the possibilities of regional rail transit, which we’ve discussed before, but the bill has now advanced. [KRNV]
🎸 A KISS Komeback in Las Vegas
KISS is returning to Las Vegas for the band’s first live performance since playing the final dates of their final tour 15 months ago. The show will be "unmasked" — sans the trademark makeup (which is literally trademarked) — and part of a fan festival at Virgin Hotels Nov. 14-16. [KVVU]
- The news comes a few weeks after frontman Paul Stanley revealed that an immersive KISS digital avatar show was coming to Vegas in 2027 inside a custom-designed theater. [Talk is Jericho]
